Well I found it. And now I'm building that perfect business. In the process, I discovered the three most powerful words in the English language ...

Honestly I didn't understand the power in those words before I started my business. But work is now fun. So is making money. Two great reasons to love this business.

Funny thing is my "customers" don't think of me as a businessperson or a salesperson. They treat me more like a trusted advisor ... one more reason I love this business.

If I could only share one thing with you about me it would be I'm a great listener. Many times I've been told, "Dan you have the patience of a saint."

From a little boy my dad often said "be quiet" "go to your room" or "I'm going to put you in a home." Lots of my childhood was indeed spent in my room, by my self... thinking and praying.

On the next block a friend, Mike Henry had been working with a grown-up named Buzzy Driscoll. He was a police officer and a scuba diver. Mike introduced me to him and there I learned about the business Buzzy had. We became great friends. He became my "father figure."

The business was making fishing sinkers and scuba diving weights; a little foundry he had set up in his back yard. I got a kick out of how we'd drive to the police pistol range to retrieve the lead. We'd truck the lead to his yard, melt it down and turn what used to be bullets into fishing sinkers and scuba diving weights. Ref: Micah 4:3


 
Aside from that I'm just out of high school and I immediately was given a job at Langenbacher's Architectural Woodworking as a Cabinet Maker Apprentice. During HS in a class called Architectural Drafting, I had drawn some really awesome floor plans and elevations.

My mom and dad during a barbecue at our house showed them to a fellow who's name was Johnny Carson (not from the Tonight Show), he was a Business Rep in the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners.

I was to become a draftsman for Langenbacher's but first I had to spend five years and become a Journeyman Cabinet Maker in the Union.

Then a particularly queer thing happened in my life & I'm sure it changed the whole course of my life for better or for worse; during the slow-season temporary layoffs...

Being young and having "time on my hands" it occurred to me to serve my country. I joined the United States Marine Corps in 1978.

I sold AmWay SA-8 Laundry Soap. Our lockers being small helped me.
 
The best thing about having my own business is if we pay attention and get to know "business" it becomes more and more obvious that practically anyone can do well for themselves in small business. It's wonderful to help others see this.

I went to NAS Memphis for ATC School then MCAS Cherry Point NC as an apprentice Air Traffic Controller.

Two years later after some "Girl Trouble" (as I call it) I transferred my duty to become the Radio Chief of HQ Battery 5/10 2nd MARDIV. Ronald Reagan had laid off the FAA ATC and the best trainers I was apprenticing under were pulled to work in the FAA.

I was confused. Something didn't seem right to me that the President could do that. I kept it in my mind/heart but went on serving and maturing. After a few years some awkward dealings between me as an NCO and my Comm. Officer 1st Lt. Seals, I decided to re-enlist and see what California was like.

I'd always wanted to go to California. So I chose to become a Radio Communications Instructor at MCAGCC 29 Palms California.
 
For me, it all started when as a Sergeant of Marines and FROC ROTS Instructor in 1983 I became the Course Content Review Board Coordinator and developed Lesson Plans in accordance with TECOM guidelines out of Marine Corps Base Quantico.

Then on Sunday, October 23,1983 at approximately 6:20 a.m. 241 Marines, sailors and soldiers were killed in Beirut, Lebanon.

After listening to all the explanations and upon hearing that Marines guarding the building were not permitted to have their weapons loaded... I decided right then and there something was very, very wrong with our government.

I got out of the Corps when my contract was done and soon after returning home to New York City I got a good, solid job with what is now Verizon.

Browsing around on YouTube I discovered one Ron Paul, Congressman out of Texas. I was amazed at all the activity he was getting. I listened to him; I fully understood why.

Our country is at war from within and now I'm doing all I can to Restore the Republic!
